A Seat is Waiting

Artful Transformations Community Access Fund

Removing financial barriers to creativity in Whitley County.

Art has the ability to create space for connection, expression, rest, growth, and belonging. But access to meaningful creative experiences is not always equal.

The Artful Transformations Community Access Fund helps make creative experiences available at no cost to Whitley County residents who could benefit from a place to create, connect, and simply be.

Through community support, we are working toward an annual goal of $15,000 to provide fully funded community art classes and year-long creative scholarships for local teens navigating significant life transitions.

Community Creative Access

Sometimes you need a place to simply make.

Some people spend much of their lives caring for others. Others are carrying experiences that make taking time—or spending money—on themselves difficult.

The Community Access Fund will provide 16 fully funded Artful Transformations classes during our eight-month teaching season.

Each class will have six available seats, creating 96 opportunities each year for Whitley County residents to participate in an Artful Transformations class at no cost.

Community Access opportunities will be available to Whitley County residents, with intentional outreach to:

  • Veterans
  • Healthcare workers
  • Social workers and human-service professionals
  • Survivors of domestic abuse
  • Individuals experiencing financial barriers to creative opportunities

These classes are not therapy or clinical services. They are opportunities to create, connect, learn something new, and have a space that asks nothing of you except to show up and make.

Participants receive the same complete Artful Transformations class experience as any other student.

The difference is simple:

Someone in their community has already paid for their seat.

$50 opens one seat.

$300 opens an entire six-person class.

Year-Long Teen Creative Scholarships

When life changes, give a young person something they can count on.

Major life transitions can change nearly everything in a young person's world.

Each year, the Community Access Fund will provide four Whitley County teens experiencing significant life transitions and financial need with a full year of consistent private art instruction.

A significant life transition might include:

  • Parental separation or divorce
  • A change in home or location
  • The death or loss of someone important
  • Grief
  • A significant change in family structure
  • Other major circumstances that have disrupted a young person's sense of stability

Each scholarship provides:

26 private art lessons
One lesson every other week for an entire year.

Individualized creative instruction and mentorship
Time dedicated specifically to the young person's interests, skills, and creative growth.

A full year of art materials
Supplies that allow creativity to continue both inside and outside the studio.

A consistent creative space
Something dependable during a season when other parts of life may be changing.

These scholarships are not therapy or mental-health treatment. They provide creativity, skill development, self-expression, mentorship, and consistency through art.

One lesson every other week. One entire year.

$1,850 sponsors one teen for the year.

Why Community Access Matters

Artful Transformations was built around a simple belief:

Growth and healing through art.

The Community Access Fund puts that belief into action by making sure cost doesn't have to be the reason someone stays outside the studio.

For the veteran who has spent years carrying experiences few people understand.

For the nurse or healthcare worker who spends each day caring for someone else.

For the social worker or human-service professional who continually holds space for people during difficult moments.

For the survivor of domestic abuse who may be rebuilding a life, identity, or sense of belonging.

For the teenager whose family, home, relationships, or sense of normalcy has suddenly changed.

There can be a place at the table for them.

A canvas.

A brush.

Time to create.

A place to learn, experiment, connect, and make something without having to decide whether they can afford to be there.

And because someone in their own community chose to fund that space—

their seat is already waiting.
